Rider – Christophe Ponsson

Christophe Ponsson was born on December 23, 1995 in Lyon.

At 3 years old, Christophe already rides a Peewee 50 Yamaha. At the age of 7, he rode a KTM 65 Cross under the wise advice of Professor Chambon.

At the age of 8, he won the Belgian “Child” Pocket Bike Championship on his Polini 50 RR replica Chambon. Two years followed where Christophe enjoyed playing team sports such as handball, football, etc. but constantly asks his parents for the motorbike. So, at the age of 10, Christophe returned to motor sports by learning karting where he spent two seasons.

We recognize him as a good driver, which he confirmed to us at the age of 12 and a half when, for the first time, he drove a 315 HP Touring Cup weighing 880 kg on a big circuit. This Touring Cup was exactly the same as the one featured at the Race of Champions at Wembley in 2007, driven by greats such as Michael Schumacher, David Coulthard, Sebastien Loeb and many others.
Christophe shares this day of Touring Cup driving with Stéphane Chambon, who for his retraining as a motorcycle driver is enjoying the rounds of the French rally championship. Needless to say, the specialists in the discipline have no chance against the king of skiing, Stéphane Chambon.

Christophe’s parents thought that he would have tried to continue having fun in the car, but no! At the beginning of February 2009, Christophe again asked his parents to ride a motorcycle, hence the agreements of February 27, 2009 between Stéphane Chambon and Gil Motor Sport.

Christophe is too young to ride on the big circuits. So, on March 5, 2009, Stéphane Chambon gave him the Certificate of Aptitude for Motor Sport (CASM). It was that same day that he rode a 250 cc for the first time on a big circuit since his Pocket Polini 50 RR.
