The 6th World Superbike race took place from 28 to 31 July in the Czech Republic. Very complicated weekend for the Gil Motor Sport-Yamaha driver who still has not recovered 100% of these physical faculties lost during his fall in the Italian race 45 days before imposing a delicate operation of the right clavicle. Our driver Christophe Ponsson does not have to blush about his work on this Czech weekend uncertain about the weather.

With a metal plate fixed by 10 screws in his right clavicle broken into 4 pieces, the right Grand Dorsal muscle bruised in his flesh by the cut of the surgeon to recover 2 pieces and bits of bone that had been embedded in it during the impact.
The surgeon was very clear about this when he explained his operation to our pilot Christophe Ponsson, “I had no choice but to cut nerves of the muscle to recover the pieces and bits of bone, you will lack strength in your arm for at least 3 to 4 months!”.

The collarbones of the bikers are heavily used during the many changes of angle and the right arm is the most used, as it is the one that accelerates, the one that must brake a motorcycle of the order of 255 Kg (motorcycle 160 kg + 25 fuel + 70 driver) and this, launched in the end at 300, 320 km/h and sometimes more!…
So Great Respect to all those motorcycle drivers who sometimes work with physical conditions, almost all of whom wouldn’t even have half of this handicap, wouldn’t go to their office to stay warm in the couch!.
As a friend from Marseille said, “They don’t have balloons, they have hot air balloons.”

Despite his state of health, the Gil Motor Sport-Yamaha driver has done very honourable times against drivers who are at 100% of their physical means and with official equipment.
Before the start of the weekend Christophe Ponsson was well aware that getting in the points this year was going to be very complicated, but he still hoped to finish the races, which was the case in the first race where he ended in pain in 20th place, last season he finished this first race in 11th place!… As for the second race he had to stop on the 18th lap because he couldn’t brake anymore, last season he finished this second race in 15th place!…

Christophe Ponsson took over the plane just 2:30 after his last race on Sunday to consult these doctors as early as Monday 1 August to understand why there is almost no improvement in healing since the English round of Donington!..

The next WSBK round will take place in France at the Nevers Magny-Cours circuit from 08 to 11 September 2022.
