NO ASSEN FOR CHRISTOPHE PONSSON #23

NO ASSEN FOR CHRISTOPHE PONSSON #23

On his way to the Misano circuit in Italy, Francis Batta, team manager of Alstare Yamaha, had a problem. Despite this and bravely Francis Batta insisted on going to Misano to join his team.

At the end of the Italian race weekend, very weakened and back home, Francis Batta consulted his doctors who are adamant and ask Francis Batta to stop all travel, at least until the end of the year, For his health is at stake and only a complete rest will allow him to heal.

For the English race weekend in Donington, Francis Batta did not make the trip and since the medical diagnosis is confirmed and without appeal for Francis Batta, the reason therefore prevails over his lifelong passion which is the motorcycle race.

In March 2021, the structures Alstare and Gil Motor Sport announced their merger and it is with regret that today they announce the end of this merger for an obvious and priority reason that Francis Batta must absolutely follow the instructions of his doctors.

It follows, of course, that Gil Motor Sport, Alstare’s partner, takes over the entire management of the team. Like everything unexpected during the season, this change creates turbulence and imposes a reorganization that does not allow the team to be present at this weekend’s Assen round in the Netherlands.

Jean-Christophe Ponsson, Owner Gil Motor Sport-Yamaha team:
I am extremely touched by what is happening to Francis, we have known each other for more than 20 years, in 2003 and 2004 I was sponsor of Alstare before the 2005 debut of Gil Motor Sport in WorldSSP with his former driver Stéphane Chambon with whom Alstare was Supersport World Champion in 1999.
So it’s so obvious to me and the team that Francis needs to prioritize his recovery. I want to thank Francis for the work he has done since the beginning of the season and wish him all the best in his health.
Now Gil Motor Sport-Yamaha will make every effort to ensure that the team is present at the next WorldSBK round in Most, Czech Republic!”
