Superbike World Championship at TT-Assen Circuit Netherlands 🇳🇱

After the disappointment of the first Spanish Round here is the Dutch comfort

From 21 to 24 April the second round of the Superbike World Championship took place on the TT-Assen circuit in the Netherlands. It was 6 years since our driver Christophe Ponsson rode on this circuit and the last time was in the 1000 Superstock European Championship.

The driver Christophe Ponsson dedicated the free sessions FP1, FP2 and FP3 on Friday and Saturday morning to take these dens with his Superbike which are not the same of course as 6 years ago with the 1000 Superstock.
At the end of these 3 free sessions and after the big difficulties encountered in Aragon, the times are very positive considering our status as a private Yamaha team against the official Yamaha structures.
It is therefore quite natural that Gil Motor Sport takes as reference the 4 official Yamaha drivers as an element of comparison.

Race 1:
The victory goes to the English rider J.Rea and his Kawasaki, on the second step of the podium the Spanish rider Bautista and his Ducati and the 2021 Superbike World Champion T.Razgatlioglu and his Yamaha on the 3rd step of the podium.
The Gil Motor Sport driver Christophe Ponsson will take the 12th place of this race after a last and magnificent pass in the last chicane before the finish on the local and official BMW driver Mickael Van Der Mark. Christophe Ponsson and his Yamaha clocked his best time at 1’555 seconds of the Razgatlioglu factory Yamaha, 1’485 seconds of the 2020 Supersport World Champion A.Locatelli and 0’568 seconds on the American rider Yamaha G.

Race 2:
Superb 2nd race also of our driver Christophe Ponsson who will again take the 12th place just 0’004 seconds from the 11th place of the Italian rider Tamburini. The Gil Motor Sport driver clocked his best time at 1’455 seconds from the best time of the T.Razgatlioglu champion, 1’316 seconds from the other official Yamaha A.Locatelli who climbs on the 2nd step of the podium ahead of the official Honda I driver.Lecuona is not dissatisfied with the collision between J.Rea and T.Razgatlioglu. The winner of this 2nd round is the Spanish driver A.Bautista with his Ducati factory.

Conclusion of the Dutch weekend:
Our driver Christophe Ponsson and his private Yamaha twice in the points with magnificent fights, overtaking and finishing ahead of drivers like the 2010 Vice World Superbike Champion Léon Haslam with 45 podiums including 5 victories and Michael Van Der Mark with 40 podiums including 5 victories in the World Superbike, which shows the potential of the French rider!

Next race at the Estoril circuit in Portugal
