WORLD SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP AT MOST CIRCUIT IN CZECH REPUBLIC

WORLD SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP AT MOST CIRCUIT IN CZECH REPUBLIC

From 5 to 8 August, the 6th round of the World Superbike Championship took place at the Most circuit in the Czech Republic 🇨🇿. This is the first time the World Superbike has been on this Czech track in Most.
Our Pilot Christophe Ponsson is one of the drivers who never rode there.

Christophe Ponsson had not ridden his Yamaha R1-WSBK for five weeks since he had not taken part in the Netherlands race in Assen from 22 to 25 July, due to the reorganization of the team made necessary by the obligation of Team Manager Francis Batta d’Alstare Yamaha to stop these trips on circuits for medical reasons.

It is therefore natural that Gil Motor Sport-Yamaha took over the entire program of the driver Christophe Ponsson and announced his goal to do everything to miss only one event! Objective achieved despite the difficulties encountered because 60% of the technical team were Alstare members!
Gil Motor Sport-Yamaha recruited a Chief Mechanic and two mechanics during the season, which was no small feat.…

Usually the new teams are prowled during the winter tests, but in this case it was no longer possible to do tests at the stage where the season is, so it is on the weekendThe new Gil Motor Sport-Yamaha technicians have met at the Most circuit in the Czech Republic.

Superpole Qualification:

The official Kawasaki rider J. Rea took the pole position at 1:31.684, followed closely by the official Yamaha T. Razgatlioglu. As for our private driver Yamaha Christophe Ponsson, this is the 20th time he will make 2’109 seconds behind the official Yamaha A. Locatelli, 2020 Supersport World Champion, and barely two tenths of the Japanese driver K. Nozane, 2020 Japanese Superbike Champion on Yamaha and supported directly by the Yamaha factory.

Race 1:

The winner of this first race is the official Yamaha T. Razgatlioglu, with the best time in 1’32.697, and our driver Christophe Ponsson will finish 11th of the race at 2’659 seconds from the winner’s best lap, 2’072 behind the Yamaha official and 3rd in race A.Locatelli and 0’416 tenths faster than the Yamaha K. Nozane factory driver who will finish 14th of the round!

Superpole Race:

There is no doubt that the track of the Most circuit is very suitable for the Turkish rider T. Razgatlioglu, since the official Yamaha also won this small race with a time of 1’32.033. Christophe Ponsson and his private Yamaha is 16th in the race in 1’34.604 and finishes 2’058 seconds from the 4th of the race the official Yamaha A. Locatelli, then 0’582 behind the Japanese rider and his factory Yamaha K. Nozane, 15th in the race.

Race 2:

Change of winner on the last race of the Czech weekend since it is the Englishman S. Redding, official Ducati, who wins by posting the best time of 1’32.415.
Our driver Christophe Ponsson, whose fastest lap in the race is 2’278 seconds behind the winner, is 2’197 seconds behind the Truc T. Razgatlioglu rider, who came second, 1’930 behind the official Italian Yamaha A. Locatelli (4th of the race) and 0’731 from Japan’s K.Nozane who finished 14th with his factory Yamaha. Magnificent finish of the race of the French driver Christophe Ponsson who gave everything to get back on the German J. Folger and his BMW to pass him in the last lap at the very last turn and snatch the point of the 15th place! This is a great performance because J. Folger is a reference rider, especially since 2017 when he almost won the Grand-Prix Moto GP of Germany by fighting hard with Marc Marquez…

Conclusion of the weekend:

This is the best race weekend since the start of the season for Christophe Ponsson and his Yamaha R1. Both races in the points, but most importantly, and most importantly, he steadily reduced the gap between him and the fastest drivers throughout the weekend.

End of the race weekend in the Czech Republic and now head to the next race at the Navarra circuit in Spain.
