The 8th race of the 2022 Superbike World Championship season took place at the Barcelona circuit from 23 to 25 September.

Friday’s day turned out to be complicated with an obvious lack of pneumatic flu that didn’t make the task easy for our driver, so naturally regrets but satisfied to see that every week that passes the Gil Motor Sport-Yamaha gradually recovers from his Misano injury which unfortunately will penalize him until the end of the season, but which improves from race to race!

The official Yamaha Toprak Razgatlioglu is the fastest Yamaha rider, so he is our reference. The driver Christophe Ponsson despite his tyre problems and his injury made respectable times given the circumstances, because in FP1 at 1’879 and FP2 at 1’861 second of the 2021 World Champion, there is therefore nothing to be ashamed of.

On Saturday morning at the FP3 only 6 drivers from the field entered the track but for a few laps in the rain. The rest of the weekend being announced under the dry there was not really any interest in risking.

Race 1: Starting from 20th position on the starting grid Christophe Ponsson made a nice comeback and managed to take the point of 15th place, his first point since his injury from Misano.

Race 2: The Gil Motor Sport-Yamaha driver will unfortunately not see the chequered flag of this 2nd race because on the 4th lap he loses the front of his bike. Fortunately not serious for him but after trying to leave he had to resign himself to give up because some elements of his bike were damaged.

Next stage of the World Superbike Championship at the Portimao circuit on 07, 08 and 09 October in Portugal.
